Visit Barrie during the first weekend in February for the Winterfest & Festival of Ice.
It’s one of the top 100 festivals in Ontario!
This annual winter celebration will be held on February 4 & 5, 2012 with events at Heritage Park and other downtown venues.
There’s also:
- the Festival of Ice (where 300 pound blocks of ice are carved into amazing sculptures)
- The February Blues Festival
- The Barrie Film Festival
- $1 skate at Barrie arenas (during selected times)
- a pancake breakfast and many other events
You can take a break and warm up at the MacLaren Art Centre and tour the gallery. Don’t forget to stop by Roadshow’s 400 Antiques Mall on your way to or from the festivities.
Some of the activities at Winterfest include:
- polar bear swim
- horse-drawn wagon rides
- dogsled rides
- mini-tube run
- lumberjack shows
- giant snow slide
- ice maze, and more.

Objects that are undeniably supernatural and are connected to iconic events and infamous people who have long since passed.
